Perhaps not everyone knows it, but iTunes is not just the default multimedia player for Apple-branded computers, but it’s also an online store through which you can download music to listen to on your computer and mobile device. So we should not be surprised that from time to time it may happen to hear friends, relatives and colleagues say to download music from iTunes.

Download music from iTunes with PC and Mac

If you are using a Mac or a Windows PC the first thing, you need to do to download music from iTunes is, of course, to verify that the famous multimedia player is installed on your computer.

In case the computer you use is a Mac, I have a good, indeed wonderful news for you: iTunes is installed ” standard ” and so for now you do not have to do anything at all. If instead the computer in your possession is based on Windows, you can check if iTunes is already installed by pressing the Start button and typing itunes in the appropriate search field.

If iTunes appears among the available programs … well, congratulations! The program is already installed, and you can skip directly to the next step. After making sure the presence of iTunes on your computer launches the player by clicking on its icon, wait for the software window to be visible and then presses the button depicting a musical note located at the top left and then click on the entry iTunes Store in high to the right.

At this point, you should see the start page of the iTunes Store with the list of the most interesting albums of the moment. To browse the sales charts or the list of albums according to the genres of music use the buttons and items that are at the top of the window instead to search for artists and songs directly use the Search field located above to the right.

To download a song or album of interest just click on the button placed next to the title of the same and indicating the purchase price. After clicking on the button enter any password referring to your Apple account and then wait for the procedure to load music from iTunes is first started and then completed.

If you want before downloading a track or an album, you can listen to a short preview by pressing the play button you can view by moving the mouse cursor over the title of the same.

Download music from iTunes with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

If you have an iPhone, an iPad or an iPod Touch know that you can download music from iTunes directly from the device in your possession. To do this, simply access the home screen of the device and press the iTunes Store (the app with the purple icon that depicts a musical note).

Before accessing the iTunes Store, make sure that your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network or that cellular data is enabled. Otherwise, you will not be able to view the contents on the iTunes Store or download music from iTunes.

Once the main iTunes Store screen is displayed, press the Music item located at the bottom left. After that you should see the start page of the iTunes Store with the list of the most interesting albums of the moment.

To browse the sales charts or the list of albums based on the genres of music use the buttons that are at the top of the screen instead to search for artists and songs directly use the Search button located at the bottom.

To download a song or album of interest, just press the button located next to the title of the same and indicating the purchase price. After pressing the button enter the password required for your Apple account or confirmation of your willingness to download using the Touch ID of your device (if supported) and then wait for the procedure to load music from iTunes is first started and then completed.
