How to slow down a song on Mac

With today’s guide, we will see how to slow down a Mac song using one of the predefined OS X software that allows you to create and edit music with great ease. You’ve probably already figured out which application, I’m referring to, but to get to know all the details, keep reading.

If you want to find out how to slow down a song on Mac, I suggest you use the GarageBand application that is installed ” standard ” in OS X. Start it by clicking on its icon in the Launchpad of your Mac, and in the window that opens double-click on the Loops item.

At this point, click on the Create button to access the main window of the program and recall the iTunes music library by clicking on the Show / Hide button the Media Browser located at the bottom right. Then select the song you want to slow down using the pop-up bar at the side of the screen and drag it to the GarageBand editor. If the song you want to edit is not included in the iTunes library, no problem. Select the file in the Finder and drag it with the mouse into GarageBand.

After importing the song in GarageBand, to slow down a song on mac, you have to align its graph to the left margin of the editor (just move it a few pixels) and activate the Follow rhythm and tone option in the Data Editor panel, which you can call by clicking the scissors icon located at the bottom left.

Perfect. Now you just have to click twice on the arrow on which is located in the virtual display of GarageBand, access the settings of Rhythm and Tempo and lower these two values ​​so that the song becomes slower.

Finally, click on the play to listen to the changes applied to the song and when you are satisfied with the result, save the song by selecting the Export track to disk item from the Share menu of GarageBand. In the window that opens, select the AAC Encoder or MP3 Encoder item from the Compress on drop-down menu, depending on the file format in which you want to export the song, and click on the Export button to complete the operation.
