How to remix a song

This is Mixx, thanks to which you can remix a song without limitation and without having to have particular technical knowledge. Install it on your computer and in just a few minutes you will learn to take advantage of all the potentialities, promised. Here’s how it works.

The first step you need to do is connect to the Mixxx website and click on Mixxx 2.0 next to WIN to download the program on your PC. Once the download is complete, double-click the downloaded file and, in the window that opens, click the I agree button (to accept the program usage conditions ) and then on Next for two consecutive times, Install and Close to finish the Mixxx installation process.

Now, start Mixxx via its desktop icon or Start menu > All Windows programs, and in the window that opens, select the folder where your music collection is stored and click the Select folder button to access the screen of the program.

To start remixing a song, you must select the two tracks to use as the basis for your remix. Then click on the File menu and then click on the Load song (Player 1) item and then on the Load song (Player 2) item to select the music files to use as the primary and secondary base of your remixed song respectively.

When you upload the completed tracks (you should see the chart at the top of the window), you’re ready to remix a song with Mixxx. Then use the buttons on the left and right of the window to start, pause, move back and forth, and adjust all of the individual track parameters (left for the first, right for the second), or control knobs (Depth, Delay, Balance, Volume, etc.) to adjust the global settings of the remixed song. The Mixxx central scroll bar allows you to adjust the degree of ” mixing ” of the two selected tracks.

To record your remixed song in the form of WAV files, select the Record Mix item from the Options menu, create your remix and, after song completion, stop recording by clicking again on the Record Mix item in the Options menu. Remember that WAV files are not compressed like MP3, so they take up much more disk space.

In addition to remixing a song, with Mixxx you can also control vinyl record consoles by connecting them to your computer and selecting Enable Vinyl Control from the Options menu and broadcast your remix live on the Internet by selecting Enable live broadcasting from the Options menu. To adjust the broadcasting settings, go to the Options > Preferences menu and select the Live Broadcasting tab.
