Programs to cut songs

Audacity : A powerful free and open source audio editing program compatible with all major operating systems. It allows you to edit the music tracks in the digital format by cutting them, applying their special effects and mixing them with each other through the comfortable wave charts.

To cut the songs with Audacity just select the point of the piece to be cut with the mouse and click on the scissors icon in the program’s toolbar. Download from here.

MP3 Spliter GUI : A free program, simple as it is effective, which allows you to cut MP3 files at predefined time intervals by acting on several tracks at the same time. It is ideal for dividing audio books into several parts but is also great for songs.

It supports the recoding of songs and the modification of the tags of the latter. Download from here.

mp3DirectCut : A free program very light but full of features that offers its users the ability to cut songs in MP3 format and back up ” on the fly ” without the need to compress them again.

It supports ID3 v1.1 tags and also allows you to edit audio files by changing their volume, normalizing them, detecting and removing empty points. Download from here.

Shuangs Audio Editor : Shuangs Audio Editor is a free software to perform basic audio editing. It allows you to cut songs but also to normalize audio files and apply special effects such as fade in and fade out.

It supports and lets you edit all the main audio file formats: WAV, MP3 and WMA. It’s essential interface will make it very easy to use for less-experienced  users. Download from here.

Wave Editor : Another excellent free program for basic audio editing that allows you to cut, copy, paste and save individual parts of music easily. Its main functions include volume normalization, fade in / fade out, peak limit amplification and silencing.

It works on all versions of Windows and supports all major audio file formats: MP3, WMA, WAV (PCM, ADPCM, GSM61, DSP, A-LAW, U-LAW, etc.). Download from here.

Wavosaur : A very advanced no-install software for editing audio files that allows you to work on multiple tracks at the same time. It supports some of the main audio file formats and allows you to cut, copy and paste parts of music easily.

Its user interface is not easy to use at first, but just do a little ‘practice and everything becomes easier. Download from here.
