How to give a song with iTunes
It’s a friend’s birthday. You wanted to give her an iTunes Card to buy multimedia content and applications on iPhone, iPad and computers, but in the end, you did not have time. In fact, between one commitment and another, you could not go to the store to buy the paper, and now you do not know how to avoid ugly figures.
How about using the iTunes Store directly and giving your friend the latest album of her favorite band or a series of single songs that you’re sure to meet her tastes? If you want to learn how to give a song with iTunes from your computer (Windows PC or Mac that is), the first step you need to do is to start the program, select Music from the drop-down menu located at the top left (to access your music library), and click on the iTunes Store button located on the opposite side of the screen.
At this point, select the album that contains the song you want to give to your friend (or search it using the bar located at the top right) and click on the arrow that is next to the button with the price of the song. Then select the item Give a Book from the menu that appears and fill out the form that is proposed: you must indicate the email address of the Recipient (ie the address associated with his Apple ID), your name in the Sender field and type a Message, if you want, with which to accompany the gift.
Then put the check mark next to the item. Now or Other date to choose whether to give the song immediately or at a future date and click on the Next button. Then select the theme with which to ” package “, your gift and complete the purchase by clicking on the appropriate buttons. To give an entire music album and not just a song, click on the arrow next to the price button of the work, select the item Get album from the menu that appears and follow the procedure seen together for the songs, nothing changes.
From iPhone and iPad it is not possible to give a song with iTunes, you can only give away whole albums. This means that to deliver as a gift a single song you have to use the computer, or you have to hope that the song has been distributed as a single: in this case, you can give the single as an album and thus bypass this restriction.
To give a music album from iTunes on iPhone or iPad, start the app, search for the work to give away from the appropriate section of iTunes and presses on its cover. At this point, press the button for sharing located at the top right (it is the one with the arrow icon) and select the item Gift from the menu that appears. Then fill out the form that is proposed to you by typing the Recipient’s e-mail address, your name and a Message with which to accompany the gift, and presses the Next button to select the theme with which to ” package ” the albumen to complete the transaction.
I remind you that you can give away music albums and songs on iTunes only if your Apple ID is associated with a credit card (standard or rechargeable), you cannot give content using the credit. In addition, gifts can only be made within the store of your country, so if you use iTunes Store US, you cannot give a song to a user who uses an international version of the iTunes Store.
